On Monday night’s High Stakes Poker stream of Episode 6, Season 9, it was Krish Menon who ended up taking a gamble during a massive $279,000 pot against Doyle Brunson. They say it takes money to make money, and it was Menon who took away the pot with a big grin on his face.

Episode 6 featured a typical bunch of colourful characters at the poker table, including Menon, Brunson, Garrett Adelstein, Xuan Liu, Jennifer Tilly, Tom Dwan, Kim Hultman, and more. Of course, Menon and Adelstein have battled each other numerous times before HSP when playing poker on Hustler Casino Live, but clearly High Stakes Poker is the biggest pots they’ve ever dealt with on a TV show.

It’s still not too late to watch all the action on PokerGO’s exclusive High Stakes Poker stream, especially if you want to try out some of the tips and tricks yourself when playing online poker in Canada. Learning from the best is the quickest way you’ll improve at poker.

Cards Don’t Fall Right for Brunson

Those at the poker table were playing a game of $200/$400 no-limit hold’ em, and it was Xuan Liu who raised the stakes from an early position to $1,200 using the Ace of Clubs and Queen of Hearts. Brunson called from a late position using the Jack of Hearts and 2 of Hearts, while Tilly made a three-bet right up to $5,000 from the button using the Ace of Diamonds and King of Spades. When the flop of Jack of Diamonds, 2 of Spades, and 10 of Clubs arrived, both Brunson and Liu called.

Tilly kept things interesting with a $7,000 bet using a gut-shot straight draw, but as Brunson check-raised to $24,000, Liu called but Tilly made the decision to fold. When the turn arrived and the 10 of Spades was shown, both players decided to check.

However, when the 7 of Clubs emerged on the river, it was Liu who actually used her ace-high to bluff with $50,000, which made the pot $71,000. Brunson didn’t call her bluff even with the best pair, and it was Liu who took in the hefty pot. Bluffing is a great move in any poker player’s bag, so any new poker player should give one a try over at the best online casinos and see how you go.

As you’ll see, things didn’t get much better for Doyle Brunson on the next round of the latest episode of HSP.

Menon Gets a Big Payday

Krish Menon is already a rich entrepreneur, but he improved his bank balance with a fantastic pot win against Doyle Brunson. We haven’t seen too much of Krish Menon on the previous episodes of High Stakes Poker, so it’s great to see fresh faces making exciting moves on this popular show.

It was Brunson in the straddle with $800 using the Ace of Hearts and Ace of Clubs, when Tilly made a $2,500 raise with the 2 of Diamonds and 2 of Clubs. Menon called with his Queen of Spades and Jack of Clubs.

When things returned to the straddler, Doyle raised things to $10,800, but everyone kept playing, and the flop arrived as the 3 of Spades, Queen of Hearts, and King of Diamonds. Brunson wanted to show the first moves by betting $50,000, which made Tilly fold, but Menon continued on with a middle pair and went all-in with $117,000. Brunson snap-called and made the pot a total of $279,000.

When Brunson and Menon decided to run it twice, the first came out as the Queen of Clubs and 8 of Diamonds, but on the second run, it was the 4 of Clubs. When the river arrived as the Jack of Hearts, Menon earned the entire pot with a double suck-out.

Great for Menon and bad for Brunson, but that’s how it goes in the poker world! Episode 7 of the High Stakes Poker stream will keep going next Monday on PokerGO at 5pm PT. The stakes are getting bigger and bigger, so it might not be too long before we see a seven-figure pot!
