The UK’s favourite dance show has been one of the main fixtures of Saturday night tv for what is coming up for 16 years now.

Strictly Come Dancing sees a group of celebrities get teamed up with a group of professional dancers and learn a variety of ballroom dances and compete against one another week after week until one is crowned the winner.

Strictly Come Dancing is one of the most-loved shows on the BBC as it is set to return for its 17th series this autumn.

Due to the competition aspect, it is always a popular betting event too, with people betting on who will go each week, who will get what marks, and of course, who will be the eventual winner.

However, even before the event, the betting begins and William Hill is already taking bets on who will be announced to be taking part. In this article, we will take a bet on some of the top picks and outside chances available at William Hill.

Favourites to Take Part in Stricly 2020 | Current Odds

Jamie Laing 8/13

Jamie Laing was supposed to compete in last year’s competition but had to pull out last minute due to injury.

This is perhaps why he is being pipped to appear in this years’ event instead – fitness permitting of course.

Fearne Cotton 11/10

The radio and TV host has become somewhat of a national treasure in the UK and she has appeared on various shows over the year.

Will the next one be Strictly? Well, the bookies seem to think so with her being second favourite to appear.

Chris Hoy 9/4

The gold-medal-winning Olympian cyclist turned motorsport driver certainly likes challenges and has the physical calibre to match.

As such, he should handle the physicality of the show with ease – if he appears. He is third-favourite to switch the bike for the ballroom this year.

John Bercow 20/1

The former speaker of the houses of parliament famed for his shouts of “order!” retired last year. During his time in the house, he became somewhat of celebrity and internet meme with much of the public taking a liking to him. With all that free time on his hands, maybe he will use it to brush up on his dance moves.

Gary Lineker 25/1

England football legend and presenter of Match of the Day, Gary Lineker is a popular figure in British sports and a popular choice among bettors to appear on Strictly at the moment with 25/1 odds.

Jeremy Clarkson 33/1

Until 2015, Clarkson was one of the BBCs biggest cash-cows but he was fired after an altercation with a producer. Since then he has pursued other ventures but could Strictly be his return to the Beeb? Although his odds make him a bit of an outsider and the thought of him in spandex is terrifying, it might be worth a punt.

Boris Johnson or Meghan Markle 100/1

While the former royal is more likely to make an appearance then the Prime Minister, if you really fancy making a bet with high odds either one of the two will pay out the same.
