Premier League Week 5: Fixtures, Odds, Live Streaming

premier league

Having suffered a long summer break without any major international tournaments, football fans are always anxious when international football returns in early September.

The season has just gotten underway, only to be interrupted by a series of.. let’s be honest.. less important games.

With two English qualification victories over Bulgaria and Kosovo and a combined score of 9-3, the Premier League returns midday on Saturday, as title candidates Liverpool welcome Steve Bruce’s Newcastle at Anfield.

Liverpool and Man City the Main Favourites

Many questions have been asked over Liverpool’s lack of activity during the summer transfer window, combined with the lack of a proper preseason that many of their players have been subject to.

Mane and Salah returned late from the African Cup of Nations; Firmino the same from the Copa America. However, Liverpool have started the season in fantastic shape and have won all their games, while also securing the European Super Cup in Istanbul.

Liverpool are 1/7 to beat Newcastle with Unibet in the early Saturday-kickoff. Tellingly, Manchester City are also 1/7 with William Hill to win their away game at Norwich, which will be player later in the day.

Three Points Needed for the Top 4 Candidates

Neither Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United nor Tottenham have enjoyed problem-free starts to their seasons. Chelsea have drawn home-games against Sheffield United and Leicester whereas United lost at home to Crystal Palace and drew in Wolves and Southampton.

Spurs’ point at the Etihad was impressive although more than they deserved, but it blurs in comparison to a disappointing 0-1 defeat to Newcastle. Arsenal have arguably enjoyed the better start of the four sides, although 1 point from the games against Liverpool (A) and Spurs (H) is below expectations.

Spurs are currently 1/3 to beat Crystal Palace at home with Betfair, and a win is absolutely needed here if any notion of pushing City and Liverpool shall come to fruition. However, Palace impressed against United, and last season they also secured away wins at Arsenal and even Manchester City. Palace are currently 15/2 to win against Tottenham with William Hill which could attract some punters.

United will hope to get back to winning ways against Brendan Rodger’s Leicester, but they have already showed their quality at Stamford Bridge and looks like a team who will push for the Top 6. United are 5/6 to win the game with Paddy Power while Leicester is offered at 3/1.

Arsenal and Chelsea face the toughest challenges of the four sides, travelling respectively to Watford and Wolves. Arsenal are 1/1 to win with Betfair at Watford in the late kickoff on Sunday, while Chelsea will be well aware of the quality of Wolves, having seen them upset one top side after the other. Chelsea are 11/8 to win the game with Betfair, but most punters will be wary of betting against Wolves at this point.

Important Clashes Among the Relegation Candidates

Among the less prolific teams, Burnley travel to Brighton while Sheffield United host Southampton, in what could be key clashes among sides that will probably end up in the bottom half of the table. Shefiield have arguably been the most exciting revelation in this year’s Premier League, and it will be interesting to see how they fare against another bottom-half side. They are currently 29/20 with Betfair to win this home game.

On Monday night, Aston Villa hosts West Ham in the round’s last fixture, with Aston Villa as the narrow favourites. It will be an interesting clash to round off what looks like a thrilling round of Premier League football.
