We’re back from the international break to preview matchday 12 of the 2021/22 Premier League season. And wasn’t it an eventful one? England smashed in 15 goals in just two matches, while Scotland bagged back-to-back wins to earn a play-off spot. But with that already consigned to the history books, it’s time to turn our attention back to English Premier League betting

epl fixtures matchday 12

Week 12 of the 2021/22 Premier League season kicks off with one of the ties of the weekend, as high flying Chelsea travel to Leicester. Saturday’s action concludes with another standout fixture, as fourth-placed Liverpool play host to fifth-placed Arsenal.

Interestingly, all of the EPL’s bottom five sides are at home this weekend, as they bid to move away from the danger zone. But which are the fixtures to bet on this weekend? Where does the value lie? Let’s dive right in to find out.

Odds and Predictions

The first of our Premier League betting tips this week concerns the match between Newcastle and Brentford. The Bees are currently on a run of four straight defeats, but the bare form doesn’t tell the whole story.

They outscored league leaders Chelsea on xG during their recent 1-0 defeat. In a 1-2 loss against Leicester, they edged the xG battle by 1.17 to 1.00. And they battered Norwich last time out, somehow managing to lose 1-2 despite xG numbers of 2.79 to 1.16. Based on these underlying figures, their run of poor form is unsustainable – especially on the road.

Taking only away fixtures from the 2021/22 Premier League season, Brentford sit in 8th place. Up against a poor Newcastle side, we fancy them to get back to form. However, due to their recent injuries, we won’t risk backing them to win (best price 2.70 with 10Bet). Instead, we’ll opt for the slightly safer Draw No Bet market (best price 1.91 with BetVictor).

Verdict: Draw No Bet – Brentford – Under @ 1.91 (BetVictor)

Anyone following the Premier League this season will already know just how woefully out of form Harry Kane is. But after notching a hat-trick against Albania, followed by four more against San Marino, could his England goal glut have restored some confidence?

It’s going to take new manager Antonio Conte a little time to revitalise this struggling Spurs squad. But if he is to succeed, bringing the best out of his prize asset will be a key part of that. And with a home tie against Leeds up ahead on Sunday, there is no time like the present.

The visitors are also struggling this season. If Tottenham are going to trouble the top six, they need to be winning games like this. So this week, we’re taking a bit of a punt on a confident Kane to open the scoring. The best price of 4.10 with Unibet seems extremely generous to us.

Verdict: First Goalscorer – Harry Kane @ 4.10 (Unibet)
