The second round of the Europa League group stage matches is upon us and it has a lot to live up to. The first round saw a total of 21 wins out of a possible 24 which shows that there are a lot of teams trying to dominate the groups early on…and that means plenty of goals. Let’s take a look at some of the standout games that are coming up this Thursday (3rd October), along with some of the best odds from the top online bookies:

Matchday 2/6 : Odds and predictions

Europa League – 3rd October:
AZ Alkmaar vs Man United
: Man United travel to the Netherlands to take on AZ Alkmaar as they look to build on their previous win over Astana last time out. It wasn’t a convincing win though with only one goal being the deciding factor. AZ Alkmaar will pose a stronger threat to the Red Devils considering they recently beat Feyenoord in the league 3-0. If United want to cement their position at the top of Group L then they will need to be a lot more decisive in the final third. We can see both teams scoring here and Bet365 are offering 7/10 for that to come true in 90 minutes.

Besiktas vs Wolves: Wolves have a got the tough task of travelling to Turkey to face Besiktas. Everyone in football knows that playing away in Turkey is a daunting task and they’ll be looking to reduce the damage by keeping things tight at the back and breaking with counter-attacking football. It looks set to be a close encounter and we think the draw at 23/10 with Paddy Power looks like a bet worth looking into.

Arsenal vs Standard Liege: Arsenal saw off the challenge of Eintracht Frankfurt in the first game with a resounding 3-0 win, and they’ll be looking for more of the same this week as they welcome Standard Liege to the Emirates stadium. The Belgians took three points from Vitoria Guimarães in their last game with a 2-0 win, and so backing over 3.5 goals in this game at 13/10 with Bwin makes a lot of sense.

Elsewhere, the two top Scottish teams are also in action with Celtic hosting CFR Cluj and Rangers travelling to Switzerland to take on Young Boys. You can back over 2.5 goals and Celtic to win at 29/20 with Will Hill, and a bet on Rangers to fight their way to a draw is available at 27/10 with Will Hill.

Best odds for the rest:

PSV to win vs Rosenborg at 4/5 with Bwin.
Malmo vs FC Copenhagen to end up as a draw at 9/4 with Paddy Power.
Porto to win at Feyenoord at 6/5 with Bwin.
