The ATP event in Delray Beach will continue with a batch of second round matches on Thursday and the battle that will see Yen-Hsun Lu trying to upset Kevin Anderson will certainly be one of the highlights of that day.

The number one reason for that is the fact that it will be the first real test for Kevin Anderson, who is coming back to competitive tennis after a surgery. And his today’s opponent, Yen-Hsun Lu, is in a fairly similar situation, as he has won only one competitive match since his narrow 2-3 loss against Gael Monfils in Melbourne.

Both guys have managed to get through the first round without any difficulties, with Lu dropping eight games against Reynolds and Anderson dropping just seven games against Smyczek, so it seems that they are both quite alright and we should therefore be in for a cracking contest between two guys that tend to work incredibly hard in every single match they play.

Given the circumstances, however, it seems unfair to have the South African as such a big favourite in this particular match-up. Of course, he is probably the more talented of the two and his very best tennis is better than Lu’s very best tennis. However, unlike Lu, he also relies on rhythm quite a lot – and Lu won’t allow him to get into any sort of rhythm with his playing style.

It will be interesting to see whether Anderson will be able to deal with that problem or not, but the bookies are offering such a big price on Lu that you simply have to go against the powerful South African today and hope that he won’t be able to deal with the world’s number sixty-eight.
