Vitesse achieved a remarkable performance last season and finished on a spot that made them eligible for Europa League, a competition that they take very seriously this year. Heracles on the other hand, barely missed its objective but despite finishing outside the first eight, they are a force to be reckoned with.
Bet: Heracles Asian Handicap 0:1
Odds: Pinnacle Sports 1.81
Earlier this week, Vitesse played the qualifiers for Europa League against Petrolul and after 90 minutes settled for a draw that makes them favorites to advance to the next stage. The Dutch team could’ve gotten away with a narrow margin victory but the Romanians scored the equalizer with just a few minutes left in the game. Very few changes were made in Vitesse’s squad during the season break, but the only player they’ve lost to Swansea can cripple the team in 2013.
W. Bony scored a massive 31 goals for Vitesse and in his absence, the hosts will have to rely on Havenaar and Jonathan Reis. The former was the second top scorer last season, while the latter scored against Petrolul in the Europa League qualifier so there is no surprise that they will pair up front. The visitors will respond with a defensive starting formation featuring Kangaskolkka who played in Sweden last season. They’ve also transferred their most prolific strikers and are now relying mostly on midfielders to shoot at the opponents’ net, so will be more than happy to settle for draws away from home.
Heracles appears to be toothless this season as all five strikers failed to score last season, but the offensive issues will only become self-evident in the upcoming months. With Vitesse being more concerned about winning the second leg of the Europa League qualifier it is worth taking Pinnacle Sports odds of 1.81 for the 0:1 Asian handicap.
