With GSP vacating his Ultimate Fighting Championships welterweight title the organisation moved quickly to set up a fight to determine a new champion for the weightclass and, on Saturday the 15th of March, Johny Hendricks, who most recently lost a close decision to GSP, will look to go one step better this time by grabbing the title in his fight with the equally hard hitting Robbie Lawler. That fight headlines a great UFC 171 fight card and below we highlight the best of our free UFC betting tips for the event with an entertaining lightweight priced at 6/4 with Coral as our best bet.

Diego Sanchez‘s war of a fight with Gilbert Melendez last time out was one of the fights of 2013 and it is rare that you will see Sanchez in a non-entertaining fight such is his fighting style. At UFC 171 he looks to bounce back from that decision loss to Melendez as he takes a slight drop back in competition to face Miles Jury, who is an undefeated prospect.

It is clear that Sanchez will always just be that little bit short of true championship quality but it’s clear he can still be competitive given his all action, fan pleasing, style. It is that style that has taken him to a number of close decision wins and that should be the case this evening as his volume of work can drag Jury into somewhat of a brawl leaving Sanchez to outwork him.

The outright prices should be a lot closer in my opinion, this is a step up for Jury, a fighter who squeezed out a split decision against Mike Ricci last time out – Ricci no longer competes with the UFC, so to have him as a heavy favourite over Sanchez seems a little off.

The 6/4 with Coral about Diego Sanchez looks like a supreme price as I’d have this fight as a “pick ‘em” fight given Sanchez’s experience and ability whilst also taking into account Jury’s likely further improvement.

Diego Sanchez has went to a decision in each of his last 6 fights and he looks an interesting prospect at 13/5 with Ladbrokes to win by decision at UFC 171.

Elsewhere on the card, the co-main event sees Carlos Condit look to put his name down as the next challenger to the new champion as he takes on Tyron Woodley in a fight where he should be able to out-work the former Strikeforce champion.

Condit might need to fend off the odd takedown but over the three rounds he should have been too classy for Woodley and is likley to take home a decision victory. If it was a 5 round fight, like his last with Kampmann, then we may have advised a late stoppage win for the “Natural Born Killer”.  Carlos Condit can be backed to win by decision at a standout price of 3/1 with Boylesports.

As for the main event, Hendricks should prove too good for Lawler but most of the prices seem to be about right with little value to be spotted.
