The Ultimate Fighting Championships rounds off their year with perhaps the biggest MMA fight of the year, as Chris Weidman aims to prove that his first victory over Anderson Silva was no fluke, at UFC 168. We have UFC tips from that fight but have also looked at the full card to bring you the best UFC tips, with our best selection being to stick with a perennial lightweight contender at a price of 21/10 with Ladbrokes.
Anderson Silva, perhaps the greatest MMA fighter of all time, looks to take back the UFC middleweight title he lost in dramatic fashion in July against Chris Weidman in what was his first loss in more than 7 years. Silva took his usual playful style too far in that fight when he feigned being hurt before being caught with a big left hook to end his night.
Despite that, Silva is the one to be with in this fight. He is the greatest for a reason and will come in with a more focused attitude in this fight, plus his price has increased since the first fight and can be backed at 8/13 with Ladbrokes in the outrights.
Weidman will no doubt look to utilise his wrestling more in this fight as he was goaded into a stand-up fight in the opening fight but, when looking back at the first fight, Silva had a clear advantage in the striking department and he put it to good use when not messing around. Silva is fancied to stop Weidman this time (13/8 with Boylesports) with the second (13/2) and third rounds (10/1) both best priced with BetVictor.
Jim Miller is the amongst the biggest favourites on the card at a best price of 2/7 and he should have far too much about him for Fabricio Camoes, who is taking a big step up in competition. Miller has 12 submission career wins, from 22, but, with Camoes a strong submission fighter, I can see Miller using his improved striking and wrestling defence to control this fight.
Whilst Jim Miller may stop Camoes with his striking (9/2 SkyBet), it would seem the best method to get with him is by decision and the 21/10 with Ladbrokes that he wins by unanimous decison is a standout bet.
On the undercard, Chris Leben looks to save his UFC career against Uriah Hall, who has looked unimpressive since coming out of The Ultimate Fighter, where he demonstrated fantastic striking. Uriah Hall has been on the end of two split decision losses in a row but unless Leben has somehow managed to find some massive improvement in recent months, Hall should be able to pick him off with his striking.
Leben is known for his extremely solid chin and it could be that we need the judges in this fight too. Given that one bookmaker has opened at odds on for Uriah Hall to win by decision, I think we have to take the chance that he wins by unanimous decision given there is such a discrepancy in the price between decision and unanimous decision with 13/5 available with Ladbrokes.
