You can find our main free betting tip for UFC 160 by clicking this link but read on for our further analysis of the event and two more bets for the card including a 15/8 chance with Paddy Power that we think is a great bet.
KJ Noons is making his debut in the UFC after a seven fight career in the now defunct Strikeforce and he has been handed a tough opening fight as he takes on Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone who has established himself as a top ten lightweight with 8 fights in the UFC since early 2011.
Cerrone is taken to defeat Noons by decision and that bet is best priced at Paddy Power, who are offering 15/8.
Of Cerrone’s 19 career wins, he has 13 submission victories but in recent times has shown a tendency to lean towards striking battles and is always putting on entertaining fights.
Plus he may have a hard time getting Noons to the ground as wrestling is perhaps one of his weaker skills and Noons has displayed a solid takedown defence of 73% in his Strikeforce career.
This looks sure to play out as an exciting striking based fight and whilst both men have the ability to finish fights – Cerrone is very technical and Noons has a great deal of power – it seems like this fight will play out for all three rounds. Cerrone’s technique will see him out land Noons and he will be able to keep him at bay by using an intelligent kicking game.
Noons will be looking for power strikes, but he only lands at a 34% clip, whilst Cerrone’s technical strikes land at a higher 47%. Cerrone will land plenty of strikes but Noons’ durability will see him make the end of the third round where he’ll have to witness Cerrone’s hand being raised.
Our other free MMA bet also comes from the main card of UFC 160 and sees us take an interest in the fight between Glover Teixeira and James Te Huna.
Teixeria is on an 18 fight win streak and looks like a possible title challenger when we move into 2014 and he should be able to take care of the improving Te Huna on Saturday night.
The striking battle could be reasonably close but we see Teixeira eventually taking Te Huna down where he has a significant advantage with vicious ground and pound and a black belt in BJJ.
We are leaning towards Teixeira winning this one by submission as Te Huna is a durable fighter but has 4 submission losses amongst his 5 career losses. Teixeira is available to back at 10/3 with Paddy Power to win this fight by submission and we recommend you invest accordingly.
