France v Belgium
France were comfortable against Belgium, who shorn of the injured Cavani couldn’t offer much threat. Belgium were tactically brilliant against Brazil with Lukaku unplayable at times, Hazard on form and Fellaini, Witsel and Chadli providing an impenetrable midfield.
This match up between two European powerhouses promises to be a close contest as each have solidity in defensive midfield and attacking flair.
Best odds are France 6/4, Belgium 2/1 and the draw 11/5. Would anyone be surprised to see extra time here? I wouldn’t, and the draw appeals.

Croatia v England
England had a comfortable passage in the quarter finals superior to a limited Sweden team and once again showing their prowess from set-pieces. Croatia had to go to penalties again and looked very leggy by the end of extra time against Russia. Advantage England. However Croatia played Modric deep in the quarter final and perhaps this doesn’t make the most of his abilities to unlock defences.
Another tight game in prospect. England are favoured at 13/10 over the draw at 2/1 and Croatia at 23/10
