New Zealand have secured the Rugby Championship title with a round to go after beating Argentina last weekend. Next weekend sees the final round of matches as follows

Saturday 6th October
South Africa v New Zealand 4.05pm local

South Africa beat Australia 23-12 in Port Elizabeth with a fast start then able to withstand a lot of Australian possession in the second half with trademark strong defence to the fore.

New Zealand controlled their match in Buenos Aires from start to finish scoring five tries to two and winning 35-17. This of course is the reverse fixture to three weeks ago when South Africa famously beat the All Blacks in Wellington

What has been forgotten is that South Africa benefitted from much fortune in that game with interception tries and New Zealand missing opportunities.

For this match in Pretoria New Zealand are 13 point handicap favourites at 10/11 with William Hill. Although South Africa have been slightly flattered in their two recent wins this match is on the high Veldt at altitude and the All Blacks have had a lot of travel. A speculative bet on South Africa +13 at 10/11 to keep it close

Argentina v Australia 4.30pm local

Argentina may have lost by 18 points to New Zealand in Buenos Aires but with two wins in this campaign there have been signs of improvement and they go into this final game in third place in the Championship and -1 handicap favourites to win the match

They beat Australia on the Gold Coast two games ago too, though the Australians ruined their match winning opportunity in the last minutes

Australia have only one win from five games in the competition and against South Africa on Saturday looked tootles in attack for much of the second half despite their undoubted back line talent

At -1 at 10/11 with their considerable home advantage (In part because of the travel distances to South America) they are a bet with William Hill.
