The Arc is a highly-regarded greyhound competition ran over Swindon’s 480m track with the first round taking place on the afternoon of Friday the 19th of April. A number of potential Derby challengers are using this as their main preparation for that competition with the ante-post 2nd favourite for the Derby Farloe Warhawk leading the market for The Arc.
We look elsewhere for our selections and have a number of free greyhound tips for the competition, including a 50/1 outsider with Stan James.
Our first selection comes in the shape of Castlebridge Dan who can be backed at 14/1 with William Hill. Castlebridge Dan has been running exceptionally well at Coventry this year and indeed holds their 485m track record. Dan has excellent early pace and should be able to adapt his racing style to Swindon fairly easily, if he gets out in front in his races he’ll be a big player in this competition.
The second free Betpal greyhound tip for The Arc is a Swindon regular, Taranis Rex, who should be backed at the 20/1 on offer at William Hill for small stakes. Track familiarity can play a big part in these competitions and Rex has been running well around Swindon in 2013, breaking smartly and recording really flashy times.
Stakes should be kept small as Rex is a railer and has had an unfortunate draw in trap 5 in the first round but if he can overcome that then he can be a big player in The Arc.
The final free tip for The Arc comes in the shape of 50/1 outsider with Stan James, Any Dak. As with most 50/1 chances this selection is a little speculative but he has many positives that could prove that the shorter prices available elsewhere are the right ones.
Any Dak has shown fantastic early pace and produced some nice times around his home track of Henlow and the hope is that he can translate that to Swindon. He is also a wide seed, of which there are few in the competition and if he progresses he is likely to get favourable draws throughout.
