Wednesday sees three more T20 Group cricket matches as the line up for the Quarter finals of the competition becomes closer to being finalised, including the Roses game at Old Trafford
Yorkshire to beat Lancashire at 13/10 Bet 365
Warwickshire to beat Gloucestershire at 10/11 Stan James
The games on Tuesday, all starting in the early evening, are as follows:
Lancashire v Yorkshire
Kent v Sussex
Warwicks v Gloucs
The Roses game at Old Trafford is live on Sky Sports and it is bound to be closely contested. The First T20 Roses game of the season ended in a tie a few weeks ago.
Lancashire are second in the group and at home and Yorkshire have disappointed relative to expectations this season in this competition and need to win all their remaining three games to stand a chance of qualification . This under-performance is surprising as Yorkshire are flying high in the County Championship with what looks to be a well balanced team for the shorter format.
The batting, led by emerging England player Gary Ballance and Australian Phil Jaques is powerful and long with late middle order runs a speciality. The bowling is led by experienced Ryan Sidebottom and new arrival this season Jack brooks and they are one of the best fielding sides in the country
On their day, in a local Derby in front of what will be a big crowd, I’ll take them as underdogs at 13/10 to upset the Lancashire applecart.
The South group sees under-resourced Kent take on the hugely disappointing Sussex in a game with nothing but pride at stake. Neither can qualify for the Quarter-Finals and it is difficult to predict a) the team line-ups and b) the team motivations. Its a game I am leaving alone.
In the midlands Group Warwickshire were a successful tip for Betpal on Saturday and are now in contention to qualify from the Group. They should have too much in all areas for a Gloucestershire side without the quality to compete in what is probably the weakest of the three groups. Gloucestershire have won only tweo games out of seven and Warwickshire, after their pick up in form have only won three but it is they that can sneak into the Quarter finals in this group because of the lack of consistency of all other teams apart from Northants. That run has to start tomorrow and 10/11 is a fair price against one of the weakest sides.
