Swindon is the venue for Wednesday evening’s live greyhound racing on Sky Sports with the main feature being the final of The Arc at 9:19pm. Our main greyhound racing betting tip for the card comes from that race as we have picked out some real value at a price of 8/1 with William Hill. Read on for details of that bet plus two more we think are drawn well.

Shaneboy Alley is the 7/4 favourite for the final of The Arc, coming from trap 6, after two excellent performances in the competition so far but it is with the dog one inside him in trap 5, Screen Critic, that we will be placing our money. Screen Critic is available at 8/1 with William Hill.

There are a number of reasons for taking the favourite on with Screen Critic. On the inside, Longwood Bound (T2) and Jolly Bullseye (T3) look set to clash in the race to the first bend – Bound will edge right from the traps and Bullseye will be looking for the rail. If they had been drawn in opposite traps then Jolly Bullseye might have been a player in this race.

When traps 2 and 3 clash early it often leaves trap 1 with a nice run, except in this case Longwood Warrior is in trap 1 and he is one to be avoided as he seems to be taking his Warrior name to heart with multiple looks at other dogs during his two races in the competition. Calls have been made for the dog to be removed from the competition but he remains in and is one to dodge.

Trap 4 Droopys Reason doesn’t have the pace to live with this field both in the early pace stakes and on the clock, and thus is discounted, which leaves us with the two wide seeds – T5 Screen Critic and T6 Shaneboy Alley. Alley is a worthy favourite but at 8/1 Critic has a great chance having been drawn inside Alley which is a reversal of the semi-final draw.

Shaneboy Alley might trap as amazingly as he did in the semi-final and then the argument would be over but, if it isn’t as fast, Critic, who also has nice early pace, might just be able to hold his own and lead Alley up. From there, Critic might just be good enough to defy the odds.

In the opening Sky race, at 7:34pm, Butts Mott looks very well drawn in trap 1 and could see himself get a nice run on the way to winning at 7/2 with Coral.

Another who looks well drawn in trap 1 is Longwood Fantasy in the 9:04pm race, who can be backed at 5/2 with BetVictor. It is a very hot race with 6 top-class dogs but he looks set to be able to run his own race on the inside and has been running quickly over the 480m and shaped as if this 509m would suit in The Arc semi-finals.
