Swansea v Blackburn Rovers on Saturday is a key battle at the foot of the table. While Swansea have ensured that they have not been dragged into the relegation scrap, Rovers have been embroiled in it from day one. Is there betting value to be had in this clash?

Under 2.5 Goals 10/11 (@BetVictor)

Two important trends point towards a low scoring game. The first, and most emphatic, is the trend at the Liberty Stadium for games to finish with 2 goals or fewer. 12 of the Swans League fixtures (from 16) have seen less than 3 goals scored. This is due in part, to the formidable home defence, which has conceded just 14 goals this term. These figures are not skewed by a soft fixture list either, the top 7 sides in the table have visited Wales already this term.

The second important trend to take note of is Blackburn’s goal scoring exploits away from Ewood Park. They average a shade over a goal a game, but have only scored more than one on four occasions – and 3 of those came against sides with woeful defences (Norwich, Wolves and Wigan). The 3-2 win at Old Trafford was a freak in every respect. Swansea themselves do not rattle them in at home, having scored 19 in 16 games. The desire of teams scrapping for their lives can throw up some odd results, but at a shade under evens, Under 2.5 goals looks to offer an element of value.

Swansea v Blackburn Verdict

Swansea and Blackburn both have very different records home and away. The goal scoring exploits of both do not inspire too much confidence of net-bulging in this one, and 10/11 at BetVictor offers some value in the Under 2.5 market.
