Friday 17th May
8.35am Hurricanes v Jaguares
The Hurricanes beat the Blues 22-12 away in Auckland last weekend and with 9 wins and a draw from their 12 games are in second in the New Zealand conference and a notional fourth seed for the play-offs.
The Jaguares lost to the Highlanders 32-27 to fall to a 6-5 record, a point behind top spot in the South African Conference but still with a decent shot at a post-season place
The -15 spread at 10/11 offered on the Hurricanes here looks fair. No bet
10.45am Rebels v Bulls
The Rebels beat the Reds 30-24 to remain in top place in the Australian conference with a 6-5 record whilst the Bulls lost at home to the Crusaders 45-13 and with 27 points and a 6-5 record, point behind top place in the South African Conference.
The Rebels can be backed as 7 point favourites at 10/11
Saturday 18th May
8.35am Blues v Chiefs
The Blues lost to the Hurricanes at home 22-12 last weekend and are bottom of the New Zealand conference with four wins in eleven games. The Chiefs beat the Sharks 29-23 to move off the bottom of the conference and for this game of the two least impressive New Zealand franchises the Blues are -3 at 10/11. I will take the Chiefs +3.
10.45am Reds v Waratahs
The Reds lost at the Rebels 30-24 and have a 5-5 record whilst the Waratahs lost at the Lions 29-28 to fall to a 4-7 record. The Reds should be backed -1 at 10/11
2.05pm Lions v Highlanders
The Lions beat the Waratahs 29-28 to move to a 6-5 record, and fourth place in the South Africa conference three points off top place. The Highlanders beat the Jaguares 32-27, and now have a 5-2-5 win-draw-loss record, good for 3rd in the New Zealand Conference.
This is priced up as a pick em game at 10/11. I like the Lions at home at zero.
4.15pm Stormers v Crusaders
The Stormers come off a bye week with a 5-6 record and fourth in conference and now have tohost the best team in the competition. The Crusaders won at the Bulls 45-13 and have nine wins and 2 draws in their twelve games and are seven points clear at the top of the New Zealand Conference. The Crusaders should be backed -13 at 10/11
