Matches this weekend as follows. All prices are from William Hill. All times BST
Friday 4th May
8.35am Chiefs v Los Jaguares
The Chiefs come off a bye week with a 6-2 win-loss record which is only good for 4th of 5 teams in the incredibly tough New Zealand conference.
Los Jaguares have been on an incredible run of form winning all three games so far on their ANZAC Tour, most recently beating the Blues 20-13 in Auckland last weekend. They are now second in the South Africa Conference with 5 wins out of 10
The Chiefs are -13 on the handicap at 10/11 here. Tempting as the Jags +13 is, my preference is the Chiefs -13 off their bye week
10.45am Rebels v Crusaders
The Rebels lost 34-18 at the Stormers last week and now have a very tough home tie against the top ranked team in the tournament. The Crusaders won away at the Brumbies 21-8 last weekend their seventh win in nine games and are -14 here. They should cover at 10/11
Saturday 5th May
8.35am Hurricanes v Lions
Back off their bye the Hurricanes are second in the New Zealand Conference with 7 wins out of 8 and host last season’s finalists the Lions who suffered a surprising 27-22 defeat in Queensland against the Reds last weekend.
Although 6 wins out of 10 games is enough to lead the weakest of the three conferences, the Lions are unlikely to cover +13 here against one of the toughest attacking line ups in the competition
10.45am Waratahs v Blues
The Waratahs come off their bye with a 5-1-2 record and top of the Australian conference. This is a rare occurrence as an Australian side is favourite to beat a New Zealand one. The Waratahs are -6 on the handicap.
The Blues lost 13-20 at home to Los Jaguares last weekend and have only won two out of nine games in the competition this season so far
Waratahs -6 at 10/11
14.05pm Stormers v Bulls
This could be the closest game of the weekend. The Stormers come off a win against the Rebels at home whilst the Bulls lost agonisingly by a single point 28-29 at home to the Highlanders. Both teams have won four games this season
Modest preference for the Stormers with home nadvantage -1 at 10/11
16.15pm Sharks v Highlanders
Rounding off the weekend in Durban bottom of the South African conference Sharks host the Highlanders from Otago who have won six of out 8 games this weekend
Highlanders -6 10/11 should be one of the strongest bets of the weekend
