Matches this weekend are as follows. All times are BST, All prices are from William Hill

Friday 20th April
8.35am Blues v Highlanders

The Blues beat the Sunwolves 24-10 last weekend only their second win of the season that sees the Blues bottom of the New Zealand conference and 13th of 15 on the overall table

The Highlanders meanwhile convincingly beat the Brumbies 43-17 for their 4th win in six games, which is only good for 4th of 5 in the super strong New Zealand conference

Here the Blues at home are +7 at 10/11 on the points handicap, and I expect the Highlanders to cover -7

10.45am Waratahs v Lions

The Waratahs are top of the Australian conference after their 37-16 victory over the Reds last weekend, they have a 5-1-1 record

The Lions were on bye last weekend and the weekend before that beat the Stormers 52-31. The Lions are top of the South African conference and have a 5-3 win-loss record

This should be a very close match and a spread of Waratahs -2 reflects this. I have no real view on this spread.

Saturday 21st April
8.35am Crusaders v Sunwolves

The Crusaders come off their bye week having won 40-14 at Los Jaguares the week before. One of the strongest teams in the competition they are second in the New Zealand conference with five wins out of 7 and now host the winless Sunwolves who lost 10-24 at the Bulls last weekend

Unsurprisingly the handicap quote here is prohibitive. Crusaders -37 at 10/11. It’s a no bet game.

10.45am Reds v Chiefs

Two teams coming off losses meet in Brisbane. The Reds lost 37-16 at the Waratahs last weekend and have three wins from their seven games.
The Chiefs lost 25-13 at the Hurricanes and a 5-2 win oss record is only good for 3rd in their conference.

The Chiefs should win this game and are 14 point handicap favourites at 10/11. I would expect them to cover this spread

2.05pm Bulls v Rebels

The Bulls recorded one of their bet victories of the season last weekend beating the Sharks 40-10. In the South African conference the Bulls are second with 3 wins from their seven games.

They now host the Melbourne Rebels who surprisingly lost 25-22 to Los Jaguares, only their third defeat in seven games.
The Bulls are -8 at 10/11 here and I will take a chance at the Rebels at +8 to rebound and keep it close.

4.15pm Sharks v Stormers

The Stormers were on bye last weekend and before that lost 52-31 to the Lions. The Stormers now only have 3 wins in 8 games
The Sharks suffered a heavy loss to the Bulls 40-10 last time out and have a 2-5-1 record.

So two underperforming sides in a poor conference and the Sharks are -2 at 10/11. Without much confidence, a slight preference for the Stormers +2 here

Sunday 22nd April
7.05am Brumbies v Los Jaguares

The Brumbies lost at the Highlanders 43-17 last weekend and now return home to face a Los Jaguares who beat the Rebels 25-22. Both sides have three wins this season, the Brumbies from seven games, the Jaguares from 8
The Brumbies are 5 point favourites here, but for such a poor side I wouldn’t want to be giving away points. Los Jaguares +5 at 10/11 is a sporting bet.
