The action in Wimbledon seems to be getting more and more exciting with every single day and the departure of Rafael Nadal should make things even more interesting, as Roger Federer now won’t have to face his nightmare opponent if he progresses through to the semi-finals. However, it is still not known whether he’s going to progress to that stage or not, as he’ll have to beat his compatriot, Stanislas Wawrinka, on Wednesday in order to do that.

The Australian Open champion has been flying under the radar recently, as there were some doubts surrounding his fitness, but his recent victories were convincing enough for us to say that he’s just fine physically. Most were expecting him to drop a set or two against Feliciano Lopez, but he won that match in straight sets, which is quite important given the hectic schedule, as he’s had enough time for rest ahead of this intriguing contest. He’s already beaten Federer in this season, out-playing him on the clay courts of Monte Carlo, but does he have enough to beat him on Federer’s favorite surface?

Well, we believe that he does. In the past, he feared Federer right from the very first point and that prevented him from playing his best tennis, but he doesn’t seem to be any worse than the legend these days and he’s got nothing to lose here, which is a situation that’s going to fit him nicely. Federer’s current form is a bit deceiving, as he’s yet to face a good grass court player in this tournament, so he might need some time in order to adapt to playing against such a strong player as Wawrinka – and, even then, he’ll have plenty of problems beating him. We’re recommending the straight win, but those of you who like to play it safe can go for the games handicap line instead.
