The sacking of Nigel Adkins as Southampton manager has shocked many, but there are also some notable opinions backing Mauricio Pochettino to be an outstanding Coach. How his new squad react is another thing, but he arrives with a reputation for getting the defensive side of football nailed down, and that is one area where his charges could certainly improve. Everton have enjoyed a long and relatively successful era under David Moyes, and travel knowing they have been beaten just once in the last ten, and two of nineteen. They are hard to beat. The match odds market reflects the form of the visitors however, and a price hovering above evens for a side who have drawn ten of twenty three, is not enough. The Unders price however, looks to be based on sentiment as much as fact. The Saints have a reputation for trading punches with teams and being overly gung-ho. Since November however, those early season goal-fests have dried up and they have gone ‘Unders’ in nine of the last twelve, including their last six at home. Everton have a habit of conceding – but not more than one – and they are not hugely prolific either. With the weather likely to hamper creative, flowing football, getting odds against on under 2.5 goals looks the value play.
