A dramatic Italian Grand Prix saw Lewis Hamilton extend his championship lead to 30 points with seven races of the season remaining after coming off better in a first lap incident with favourite Vettel which say the German move to the back of the field

This despite Ferrari being fastest through practice, qualifying and in the race, though Raikkonnen’s tyres faded at the end of the race to give Hamilton the win opportunity.

Yet again Vettel has hurt his championship chances by making a mistake in direct combat with Hamilton. It is becoming a necessity to avoid these in Singapore for the night race, a track which typically hasn’t suited the Mercedes, with a longer wheel base than its major competitors and thus less nimble on a street track.

Red Bull should be in contention but the very unreliable performances of the Renault engine make grid penalties a strong possibility. With Ferrari now having a slight qualifying pace edge on Mercedes and therefore with a strong possibility of qualifying on pole Vettel should be a strong favourite

Vettel is indeed a favourite at as high as 6/4 with Skybet which should be one of the bets of the season ahead of Hamilton and Verstappen at 4/1

As ever with F1, variance is high with accidents and grid penalties a feature all season a function in part of engine regulations and in part due to the close battle for the championship with no quaerter given.
