Pittsburgh did it again and extended the winning streak to five games at the expense of Seattle, by taking the opening game at Safeco Field. The hosts will send in their best starting pitcher tonight, in an attempt of leveling the score but they will need to provide Hernandez with more runs of support.
Odds: Winner Sports 2.35
The Mariners have no more aces in their sleeves now that they are without Ichiro Suzuki, but having Hernandez pitching in the first innings is always a reason to rejoice. Felix has the ability to pitch deep into the game and offset the frailty of an otherwise weak bullpen, prone on losing tight matches. His biggest concern is that the offense will leave him hanging once again after losing 4 decision mostly due to abysmal hitting.
Hernandez is 8-4 this season with an ERA of only 2.71 but although he was not to blame for none of his defeats this doesn’t help him or the Mariners. His counterpart is Gomez who conceded an average of three runs per match but unlike Felix he won both decisions. The Pirates have scored an average of seven runs per game during the winning streak, including 9 at Safeco Field against Seattle. They will be hard pressed to find a way around Hernandez tonight, but this is the perfect timing for Pittsburgh to defeat him.
Seattle is counting on their star pitcher to win the second game of the series, but not even Hernandez can defeat the red-hot Pirates on his own. Punters who took Winner Sports’ offer yesterday should do it again because this time the odds for a Pittsburgh victory are bumped to 2.35 which represents tremendous value.
