The five day declarations have been announced for the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes, the feature race on the second day of Royal Ascot, and the presence of So You Think has triggered the defection of several rivals.
So You Think, already a winner of six Group 1 races in his short career, is a best price of just 1.57 (William Hill) to land a seventh Group 1 at this year’s Royal Ascot meeting, in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes.
His principle market rival is the French trained Planteur , who is a best price of 4.50 (Bet365, William Hill) for the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes after connection elected to keep him in the race at the five day declarations stage.
However, last year’s Derby winner Workforce is the most notable withdrawal at the five day stage, with the Coral Eclipse in July seemingly his next target.
In addition to the favourite So You Think, Aidan O’Brien has left three other horses in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes – Await The Dawn, Cape Blanco and Jan Vermeer. However, the trainer is likely to send Await The Dawn to the Hardwicke Stakes (Royal Ascot Day 5) and Cape Blanco to the Queen Anne Stakes (Royal Ascot Day 1).
Jan Vermeer is currently a best price of 21.00 for the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes (Bet365, William Hill).
Mahmood Al Zarooni leaves three in at the five day declarations stage – Rewilding (9.00, Paddy Power), Debussy (34.00, William Hill) and Sea Lord (67.00, Bet365).
The Prince Of Wales’s Stakes field is completed by the Barry Hill trained Ransom Note (51.00, William Hill) and Roger Varian’s Sri Putra (51.00, Paddy Power).
