Where else could we begin, other than with the amazing Frankel? Henry Cecil’s “Freak” is now no bigger than 1/6 (1.17) with bookmakers to land the opening race of Royal Ascot 2012, which would extend his impressive unbeaten record to 11 races (seven of which would be Group One racess).

Cecil told reporters, “He’s in good order and there are no excuses. I’m very proud of what he’s achieved, we’re lucky to have him and I hope to continue where we left off.”

Ortensia is currently contesting favouritism in the King’s Stand Stakes, and the Australian winner of Dubai’s Al Quoz Sprint is reported to be in top form ahead of Royal Ascot by trainer Paul Messara.

“She was the best she had been before Dubai and I feel she is coming into this race in the same sort of form,” said Paul Messara, though he did express concerns over the forecast going, adding that, “she has mixed form on rain affected tracks and is better on top of the ground. If we got good ground, I’d assess her chance very well”.

In the St James’s Palace Stakes, connections are hopeful that Royal Ascot will bring the best out of Born To Sea – half brother to Sea The Stars.

The John Oxx trained colt has been a shade disappointing so far, but jockey Johnny Murtagh said, “He’s a horse I’ve always liked. We view him as a Group One horse and I think Ascot could be the ideal track for him.”

Offers

There are plenty of Royal Ascot 2012 special offers and bets to get your teeth into, particularly on Day One, mostly due to the presence of Frankel.

The colour of the Queen’s hat on the opening day is always bit of fun. The current favourite is Blue at a best price of 4.00, though we think Cream/Beige is a bit of value at 11.00 (check out Stan James for the full market).

On a more serious note, William Hill are currently offering 2.00 about Frankel winning the Queen Anne Stakes by five or more lengths, while Stan James go 2.50 about Aussie superstar Black Caviar landing the Diamond Jubilee Stakes by over 3.25 lengths on Saturday.

If you fancy both of those horses to win, SportingBet have a couple of Royal Ascot offers that you might be interested in. First of all they’re offering an enhanced price double of 1.57 about both horses winning, which is nice, but if you place any bet of £20 or more using your mobile during the Royal meeting, you’ll bag a free £20 bet for the following day’s racing!

Don’t forget about Bet365, who will be offering all of their usual horse racing specials for the duration of Royal Ascot. They are guaranteeing to be best price on all of the televised races, plus if you back any winner at odds of 4/1 (5.00) or bigger, they’ll give you a free bet to the same stake on the next race – keeping backing winners and keep bagging free bets!

It really is worth checking Bet365 out if you don’t yet have an account. In addition to the fantastic racing specials, you’ll qualify for up to £200 in free bets when you open an account.
