The 2015 Wimbledon might be speeding towards the finals, but there are still plenty of matches to be played – and at least one of them is going to feature Roger Federer.

The world’s number two might not be incredibly dominant these days and it seems impossible to think that he’ll be able to overtake Novak Djokovic in the rankings yet again, but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t a good player anymore. Far from that – and, most importantly, he’s currently playing in a superb form, having cruised through the four matches he’s played in London so far. That wouldn’t be all that special, but you have to remember that he’s actually also yet to drop his serve at SW19 in this season, a truly incredible feat.

Gilles Simon did well to beat the injured Berdych so easily on Monday, but this is going to be a completely different challenge and we suspect that he won’t be able to trouble the Swiss number one all that much. On a different surface, things could be very interesting indeed, but Federer loves grass and it’s arguably also his best surface, while Simon doesn’t really like it for obvious reasons. His game is built around long rallies in which he’s able to chase everything down and stay in every rally for a very long time, but that’s something that simply doesn’t work on grass. Federer will take the ball early, taking Simon out of his comfort zone and asking him plenty of questions, most of which the Frenchman simply won’t be able to answer. Backing the Swiss number one on the games handicap is therefore our recommendation for Wednesday.
