Miami looks set to see two very interesting battles in the ATP part of the draw on Thursday, with the clash between the world’s number six, Tomas Berdych, and the world’s number ten, Richard Gasquet, being the main highlight of the day.

The main reason for this particular battle being so interesting is the fact that the rivalry between the two is currently stuck with the H2H record standing at 4-4. That should add more crisp to their meeting this time around, with Berdych wanting to improve his great run of good results and Gasquet wanting to get his revenge for the defeat from Indian Wells.

Since then, Gasquet has gone on to record two very solid victories against Olivier Rochus and Mikhail Youzhny before coming back from a bad situation to win against Nicolas Almagro. On the other hand, Tomas Berdych was made to work really hard against Daniel Gimeno-Traver and Alejandro Falla (he even had to save two match points against the Colombian) before demolishing Sam Querrey 6-1 6-1.

With all that in mind, it seems that there should not be a huge gap between the two right now. The Czech’s impressive run of good results has to count for something, but he has already shown a few signs of fatigue in Miami and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him struggle or even lose on Thursday. After all, the Frenchman did get a foothold in his last match against Berdych after losing the first set poorly over in Indian Wells, so he has something to build on and there is no doubt that he has what it takes to trouble the Czech under these circumstances.
