Chelsea v Manchester City

Saturday evening sees the big clash between the top two, with Chelsea five points ahead of Manchester City in a two horse race for the title after City’s home loss to Arsenal a fortnight ago. In fact City only have one league win in their last four games but the Arsenal loss was the first league defeat since October 25th despite some inconsistent home form. The recent results though have pushed Manchester City out to 5/1 to win the title.

The pair played out a 1-1 draw at The Etihad in September, with City scoring a late equaliser after being reduced to ten men. This time round City are getting healthy with Aguero, Silva and Kompany available though at the time of writing both Yaya Toure and new signing Bony will be on African Cup of Nations duties

Chelsea with the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa are all very likely to cause problems for the City defence and for both sides the game will very much be once againkeeping talismeno Costa and Aguero as quiet as possible, the former on 17 goals now after three from his last three in the league.

Chelsea are just under Even money to win and this should be a cagey tactical match. You have to go back to a 4-2 City win in 2009/2010 for a game betweent he two that has ended with 3 goals or more and under 2.5 goals here is a 21/20 underdog with BetVictor. I would be surprised if there was more than one goal in uit, and surprised to see many goals

Liverpool v West Ham

Two sides that lie 7th and 8th in the table meet at Anfield and both are in decent form, unbeaten in six matches. West Ham have been impressive this year, with the introduction of new attacking players giving them some tactical flexibility with the ability to play different styles and quietly the defence has been very solid too. Only the top 4 sides have conceded frwer goals than Sam Allardyce’s side.

It’s interesting then to see them priced as long as 9/2 generally to win here as they have the ability to stifle Liverpool, still without too many goals in the absence of Sturridge  and set up well on the break. For the more conservative, wanting to get the draw onside too, West Ham -1 on the ahndicap is 13/10 with Ladbrokes. I think both prices look attractive

Crystal Palace v Everton

Much like the introduction of Pulis last year, the appointment of Pardew has galvanised Palace into fine form with four successive wins, two of them in the FA Cup granted, since his appointment. This is also a good time to be playing Everton, who look to be short on confidence and are certainly short of results with no wins in six games yet Everton are priced up by the entire market as 13/8 favourites for the game away from home

I far prefer backing Crystal Palace at 2/1 with Totesport to continue their fine form
