Newcastle Uited v Sunderland

A huge north east derby for Rafa Benitez’s first home game, with added spice because of a prickly relationship0 with him and Allardyce and it looking likely that 2 out of three teams (Norwich included)will join Aston Villa in the championship next season.

Watching them live on Monday night thought Newcastle showed some encouraging signs of organisation and effort which bodes well for the run in. Benitez will make them difficult to beat and then work on creating chances. Sunderland have three draws and a win in their last six games to take them out of the bottom three and clearly their reconstruction under Allardyce is ahead of Newcastle’s.

At the prices, Newcastle 11/10, Sunderland 11/4 and the Draw 12/5 it is the draw (low scoring, in particular) that appeals with BetVictor

Manchester City v Manchester United

Now 12 points off the top of the table this has been a frustrating league season for City, with results particularly inconsistent since the Gardiola announcement. Matters are not helped by two more injuries in the Champions league in midweek to Kompany (again) and Otamendi. They probably need to win out to stand a chance of the title and notwithstanding the presence of Aguero and Silva aren’t in the form to do so

United meanwhile are in a real battle for the top four and their style of play continues not to get the type of results needed to pull them clear of the chasing pack. I would expect Van Gaal to set up Uited cagily here and would not expect it to be an open game

City have drifted after the Kompany news but are still odds-on everywhere (10/11 William Hill the best), prices that don’t really scream value. United can be backed at 15/4 with BetVctor, which will be their highest outright price for a Manchester derby in a long time. The 13/5 on the draw with the same firm looks a sensible option

Chelsea v West Ham

Approaching the end of a terrifc season for West Ham under Bilic before they move to the Olympic stadium its interesting to see West Ham, challenging for the top four at 9/2 to win (PaddyPower) at Stamford Bridge this Saturday. Very organised defensively with the “x-factor” provided by Payet obviously playing Celsea under Hiddink is a test, they haven’t lost in the league since he took over.

Chelsea though are a best price of 8/11 for the game where they will be without Costa and a vulnerable through injury in central defence.
