Manchester City v Chelsea

The arrival of Diego Costa at Chelsea looks to be the signing of the season. Seven goals in his first four games and a perfect poacher that Chelsea were lacking up top to complement the terrific midfield. Four wins out of four for Chelsea so far and they will go to the Etihad confident

Whereas last season you would expect Mourinho to set Chelsea up to restrict a major opponent now, with Diego Costa up front, I think you can have more confidence that that sort of tactical approach will have better results with a finisher for the chances that are created. Ladbrokes offer 2/1 Chelsea for the game against a City side yet to hit the heights of last season. That looks good value to me

Aston Villa v Arsenal

After our success last week with Aston Villa at Anfield, I look to oppose them at home to an Arsenal side that impressed at home to Manchester City. I prefer backing Villa away from home on the counter-attack and do think that sooner or later their form will revert towards the mean. 4 goals so far this season from only six shots on target, leading to 10 points out of 12, suggests as much. Whilst the betting crowd follows the home team here, I will back Arsenal who hopefully themselves will play on the counter and think are decent value anywhere near even money for the game currently best priced 5/6 with bWin

Newcastle United v Hull City

Hull City at 3/1 feels like a value play here. The Newcastle side thrashed 4-0 by Southampton looked half-hearted, disinterested and tactically naive. Pardew is unlikely to be replaced before this game. Newcastle at home are of course a different proposition but  didn’t see too many signs that the players were going to pull out all the stops for their manager in recent games

Hull are organised, committed and with the arrival of Hernandez and Diame have more goal-scorers in the team to support Jelavic. I would price this game up far closer than Newcastle 11/10 Hull 3/1 which is what BetVictor offer
