A dramatic opening weekend saw plenty of goals,a shock defeat of the champions and impressive victorie for both Manchester clubs the title favourites. What will the second weekend of action bring?

All prices below are from BetVictor

Tottenham v Chelsea

This already feels like an important game for Chelsea, after their 3-2 home defeat to Burnley to start the season and with Conte grumbling about squad depth, transfer activity and the Diego Costa distraction.

Tottenham begin their season at Wembley and many assume that an absence of home advantage will cost them a tilt at a title. In terms of first choice XI’s Tottenham must be right up there with a solid back 5 marshalled by an excellent holding midfield duo,the creativity of Eriksen, the threat of Alli and the goals of Kane. Whether that line up can survive the rigours of a season where the swuad lacks the depth of some of their rivals is the issue

Anyway, for this game prices are Tottenham 11/10, the Draw 13/5 and Chelsea 3/1. Given form and off the field stability, Tottenham have to be favoured at 11/10

Southampton v West Ham United

Southampton began their season with a 0-0 home draw against Swansea though that result masked a dominant performance with xG of 2.2 and a host of chances wasted. They will hope to put that right this weekend against a West Ham side that were pummelled 4-0 by Manchester United. Whilst this fixture is not the daunting prospect that one was there was little to excite the West Ham faithfuland the pressure could soon come on Bilic with a tough start.

Prices here are Southampton 4/5, the draw 5/2 and West Ham 9/2. Suthampton at 4/5looks perfectlyreasonable to me.

Burnley v West Bromwich Albion

Burnley’s 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge, even against ten men for 80 minutes and then 9 men was a real upset, especially as Brnley’s form last season was so based on home results and in the summer they have lost Michael Keane and Andre Gray and the recruitment has been questioned. This is a resilient side though with Heaton, Mee and Lowton anchoring a solid backline and enough going foward to cause problems

Playing Brnley away from home is a difficult task and West Brom, who won in perfunctory fashion 1-0 at home to Bournemouth on the opening weekend will no doubt go orga nised, look to keepit tight and nick a result. It is likely to be a low scoring game

Prices here are Burnley 8/5 the draw 11/5 and West Brom 9/4. Burnley at 9/4 looks attractive to me.
