A new Premier League season. Over £500m spent across the division in the summer as squads are reshaped.
Each Week i will attempt to identify the best “value” betting opportunities across the slate of games
Everton v Stoke City
A study in contrasts here to start the season with Everton reshaping quickly this summer under Koeman and Stoke signing no players until the arrival of Choupu-Moting earlier this week.
Everton finished seventh last season, lost Lukaku but spent the money on Rooney,Keane, Sandro and others and should be very competitive again this season albeit its not easy to see a vacancy in the top six for them to fill
Stoke have a very tough start. this game and then Arsenal and Manchester United in the first six games. On the upside Butland is back from injury but on the downside the division has strnegthened and Stoke haven’t. Wthout the creativity of Arnautovic the early weeks of the season might be a struggle
Everton -1 here is 15/8 with Bet365, expecting a convincing home win here
West Brom v Bournemouth
West Brom haven’t found it easy to strengthen this offseason after a season last time that saw a great start then a marked worsening of results in the second half of the season. Jay Rodriguez is an interesting arrivalif he stays fit but in general terms the side will rely on defensive solidity, the famous organisation and strucutre of Pulis teams and then look for increased creativtiy in the final third
Bournemouth had a fine season last time to finish in the top half and have Defoe’s goals now at the spearhead of a settled and under-rated team particularly defensively
Odds here are West Brom 6/4, Bournemouth 21/10 and 9/4 the draw with BetVictor.I like the draw here as the outsider of the three outcomes in the 1-2-X market.
Brighton and Hove Albion v Manchester City
Newly promoted Brighton start life in the top flight as 10-1 underogs to title favourites Manchester City. City with a wealth of options and over £200m spent this summer of course should be favourites for this game. Teir front six are going to be very difficult to stop all season but righton went up with a very solid defensive core and the skills of Knockaert providea dangetr of their own.
Brighton +2 is 10/11 on the handicap with BetVictor. I fancy the hosts in a home first game to make a go of it and it to be closer than 10/1 and the +2 quote implies.
