Tottenham v Swansea over 2.5 goals 5/6 BetVictor

Cardiff City v Manchester City 4pm

Cardiff’s home return to the Premier League could not look any tougher in the light of Manchester City’s corruscating victory last Monday night. The away team are priced at a prohibitve 1/2 to win in Wales and few are going to back against that. Their range of attacking options this season looks second to none away from home the pace and trickery of Navas, Silva and Aguero are going to be difficult to counter for the home sides.

One ray of hope for Cardiff is that both Kompany and Nastasic are injured so the back four will have a slightly unfamiliar look but they will still be protected by the ebst all-round midfielder in the division Yaya Toure.

In Cardiff’s favour, the home fans will create a raucous atmosphere and indeed the team might have a home advantage at times this season in an era where sucha dvantages are harder to come by. Defensively Cardiff were very solid throughout their promotion season but very early signs from a 2-0 defeat at West Ham on opening day are that goals might be a problem

I alighted on Manchester City to score in both halves at 23-20 BetVictor as a suitable bet, and an alternative to backing outright at short odds-on. What we have in our favour with this sort of bet is Pellegrini’s avowed intent to attack and entertain, whereas the Mancini team of last season was more content to lead, sit on that lead and rely on the back five to resist any pressure. Against bottom half teams they generally did this, but Pellegrini’s team looks to be a different proposition

Tottenham Hotspur v Swansea City 4pm

Spurs move towards a post Gareth Bale era having spent over £60m on Soldado, Chabli andd Paulinho amongst others. They have Vertonghen back today that adds solidity to a defence hardly threatened in their two games so far this season

Both teams played in the Europa League on Thursday. Tottenham’s squad is big enough to deal with two games in four days. Swansea’s resources will be stretched thinner.

Looking at a longer perspective, Swansea’s league form has worsened since winning the League Cup with just two victories from 12 league games. After a heavy defeat to Manchester United they will be looking to re-aseert their defensive solidity from last season but against top six teams like Tottenham may once again have to rely on Michu, this time supported by new arrival Bony, to compete.

With Swansea in action for the second time in four days, facing the likes of Soldado and with Michu/Bony looking a tread, the bet appears to em to back goals, over 2.5 at 5/6 BetVictor. Again, an alternative to backing Spurs outright at less than 4/6.
