Manchester United overtook their near neighbours at the top of the league last weekend, but it might be all change again this week after their trip to Arsenal

Arsenal v Manchester United

This is undoubtedly the game of the weekend. United went top of the table with a facile 3-0 victory at home over struggling Sunderland whilst Manchester City were losing at Tottenham. Arsenal meanwhile returned to form with a thumping 5-2 win at Leicester with a Sanchez hat-trick. For both teams, goals are likelier to be harder to come by this weekend.

United have only conceded 5 goals in 7 games and probably the most convincing part of Van Gaal’s restructuring of the side has been in the back 5 particularly now with De Gea restored.  Arsenal meanwhile have conceded 7 goals in their 7 games and the arrival of Cech, who was hailed as one of the signings of the summer, has perhaps not had the impact desired yet

For this game Arsenal are just over even money at 21/20 with William Hill and Manchester United look a big price at 3/1 with Betfred and BetVictor, with the draw at 27/10. This should be a close game, and whilst United at 3/1 tempts Unuted +1 on the handicap with Coral at 20/23 is probably more sensible

Bournemouth v Watford

Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson is to spend at least 6 months out injured after scans confirmed a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in right knee in last weekend’s loss at Stoke. This is a big setback as he had scored 5 of Bournemouth’s 9 goals this season and is irreplaceable in the short term.

Watford meanwhile have scored 5 goals in seven games and have not scored in four of those games. Despite the potentially prolific Deeney-Ighalo partnership up front the approach of the Spanish manager is more conservative.

With Wilson out and Watford struggling for goals i sense both might ultimately be happy with a point here and under 2.5 goals at 10/11 with William Hill is very interesting.  I thought the price might be nearer 8/11

Sunderland v West Ham

With a return of 2 draws in 7 games with 16 goals conceded Sunderland are rooted to the bottom of the table and host a West Ham side in 3rd who have lost twice in the league all season, both times at home. Understandably West Ham are favourites for this game but i still think the 7/5 offered by Coral amongst others offers some scope for value.

One of the hey features of Bilic’s side has been retaining possession and the ability to break on the counter particularly through the dangerous Payet. If Sunderland over-press this will leave their inconsistent back four vulnerable to a side who have scored 15 goals so far this season
