With 57 victories in 2013, Boston is leading the MLB and has a commanding lead in the Eastern division, despite Tampa Bay and New York Yankees coming strongly from behind. In order to consolidate their position at the top, they will need to deal with Oakland, who have recently overtook Texas for the lead in the West.

The Red Sox have the best home record in the league and a decent performance away from home, but they could improve those numbers tonight. The main reason for why Boston is doing so well in 2013 is that their pitching staff is brilliant and relievers rarely squander a lead. Having John Lackey as a starting pitcher will only strengthen their confidence in their chances, as the veteran won 18 out of 24 starts while conceding less than three runs per game against the A’s.
His numbers are consistent this season and despite splitting his 12 decisions, John has posted an ERA of 2.80. The same cannot be said about his counterpart, with Jarrod Parker also winning just six of 12 outings but he conceded more than four runs per game. This is quite a handicap against the hard-hitting Red Sox, and things could easily spin out of control if Oakland continues to struggle offensively. The main reason for why Parker failed to win more than one decision in his last four starts despite limiting opponents to less than three runs per game is that the A’s offense faltered.
Even odds for the Red Sox to win are always attractive but with Winner Sports offering them now when Boston is in superb form, makes them downright irresistible.
