The NY Rangers won twice on the road and they return home confident that they can wrap up the series and even a sweep looks possible. After allowing 10 goals in the first two games, the Canadiens need to bolster their defenses, especially now that their first goalkeeper is out with an injury.
Bet: NY Rangers
Odds: Winner Sports 1.90
Montreal had very little problems so far in the playoffs, but this series could end miserably and getting swept by the Rangers would be the ultimate humiliation. The Canadians failed to win at least once at home and scored just three goals, while their defenses were permeable to say the least. To make matters worse, they will be without Carey Price who suffered an injury last round and will be on the bench.
The visitors would have to choose between Budaj or go with rookie Tokarski and at the time of writing, the latter looks like a more probably choice. This means that Montreal will have a hard time containing the threat posed by the red-hot Rangers, who have an impressive track record at Madison Square Garden. The hosts have momentum on their side and their offensive seems unstoppable, so they won’t let this opportunity slip through their fingers. A 3-0 lead over the Canadiens would pretty much mean the end of the series and a ticket for the Stanley Cup final.
Lundqvist is in great shape and he can keep his team afloat even if the Canadiens find a way to play offensive hockey. The odds dropped dramatically and we now have to settle for 1.90 for a home win in regulation time at Winner Sports, but these odds could sink even more.
