Arizona is still leading the Western division of the National League, but unless they end the losing streak soon, Colorado could overtake them. The New York Mets try to capitalize on the Diamondbacks’ slide while preventing the league worst Miami from closing the gap in the East division.
Bet: NY Mets
Odds: Winner Sports 2.25
Arizona starts with the best pitcher in its rotation, hoping that Patrick Corbin can help them return to their winning ways. He has a 9-0 record and an ERA of 2.22 but was denied six times the chance of moving into the double digits area, after his teammates failed to provide him with enough runs of support. Way too often, he left the Diamondbacks in control of the game when he retired, only to see the bullpen squandering the lead. Tonight he hopes that his fortunes will change against the modest hitting NY Mets.
The hosts emerged victorious at the end of the opening game, but the narrow margin victory doesn’t mean much against the leader of the Western division. If they are to win the series tonight, the hosts will need a stellar performance from their own starting pitcher, Jeremy Hefner. He knows all too well how frustrating it is to play brilliantly and get tagged with losing decisions, as he is 2-6 despite conceding an average of 3.72 runs per game.
The New York Mets have a rare chance of winning the series in two games but they won’t have an easy mission against Patrick Corbin. The problem with Arizona is that it relies almost exclusively on its starting pitcher while providing him with insufficient runs of support. Winner Sports makes it worth backing the underdog once again because odds of 2.25 for a coin flip are definitely worth taking.
