Atlanta Falcons at Tennessee Titans

The 5-1 Falcons travel to Nashville to play a Titans side likely to be without quarterback Marcus Mariota who sprained an MCL last weekend. The Falcons have one of the stories of the season in running back Devonta Freeman with voer 500 yards rushing and nine touchdowns. If you commit resources to stop him, Julio Jones on the outside is one of the most prolific wide receivers in the NFL.

Without Mariota I don’t see how the Titans, witha  1-4 record, can live with the Falcons here. From the second worst record in the NFLlast year the franchise is rebuilding but it will take several drafts to become competitive with the better teams in the league.  The Falcons are 4 polint road favourites but should cover

New York Jets at New England Patriots

One of the biggest games of the week sees a big AFC East Showdown in New England as the 5-0 Patriots and 4-1 Jets meet. The Patriots are probably the best team in the NFL but this is their biggest challenge of the season so far as the Jets, under new head coach Todd Bowles, have the leading defense in the league. They have given up only an average of 15 points per game and over 200 yards less than any other team over five games.

On offense the Jets have a punishing running back in Chris Ivory and Brandon Marshall offers them an outside threat that they have lacked for years. Whilst New England, with brilliant coaching and game plans allied to the excellence ofBrady, Gronkowski et al should undoubtedly be favourites at home I was surprised to see the Jets, almost certainly a play-off team themselves this year, as 9 point underdogs for this divisional battle

Dallas Cowboys at the New York Giants

Another big divisional game, this time in the wide open NFC East, as the Cowboys minus Romo and probably still Bryant, travel to New York. Aside from teh big two players on offense injury hit Dallas are getting healthier and now for example have a full complement of their top pass rushers. This is significant because in the 27-7 Giants loss to the Eagles on monday night their play at offensive tackle really affected their game plan. Eli Manning was sacked three times and pressured constantly.

The issue then becomes if Dallas can create any offense. Matt Cassel comes in at quarterback, and whilst inconsistent at least should allow the Cowboys to open up the playbook a little. Christine Michael is likely to start at running back, giving the rushing game a more physical edge. Dallas are 3.5 point underdogs for this game and i think they could well win it
