Into the second half of an already dramatic season, with 12 AFC teams sitting with a winning record and the prospect of some close battles playing out in NFC Divisions too. Where are the week’s best betting opportunities?

Recommendations

Arizona Cardinals +4.5 points 10/11 William Hill at the Dallas Cowboys

Baltimore Ravens +1 point 10/11 Ladbrokes at the Pittsburgh Steelers

San Diego Chargers +1.5 points 10/11 William Hill at the Miami Dolphins

This week is a rarity in the NFL, with four double digit underdogs on the point  spreads

These are:

Oakland +15 at Seattle

Jacksonville +11 at Cincinnati

NY Jets +10 at Kansas City

St Louis Rams +10 at the 49ers

Whilst i am going to focus on other games, you could do worse than look at the underdogs here. If you had bet every double digit dog in the NFL since 2010 blind you’d be 26-21 winner/loser

Onto this week’s tips, following 3 out of 3 winners last week

Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys

Arizona have been one of the surprises of the season, with the best record in the NFC after beating the Eagles last week. They are probably still under-rated as they are 4.5 point underdogs for Sunday’s game at the Cowboys who have a 6-2 record, the top rusher in the league and themselves have surprised many this season

Dallas, always a well supported team by the public in betting markets, tend to be a good underdog and a bad favourite. They also don’t have much of a home advantage, in part because the atmosphere in the stadium is sanitised with large numbers of corporate ticket holders.

Dallas are on a run of 7-21 Against the Spread as a home favourite. Betting the underdog in Dallas games will get you 47-23 Against the spread since 2010. Even if we ignore these figures, Arizona have a fearsome blitzing defense and Tny Romo is banged up. Arizona also have plenty of offense too.

Arizona Cardinals +4.5 points 10/11 William Hill is the bet of the week

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers

Sunday night’s late game sees a big AFC North clash which sees the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have won their last two games including record breaking performances in beating the Colts last weekend host the Ravens. This should be an altogether closer game than last weekend’s and one which is more defensively biased.

The two teams know each other well, and the Ravens should scheme defensively to prevent the big players that were such a feature of Roethlisberger throwing for over 500 yards against Indianapolis. Pittsburgh, although clicking on offense, are extremely inconsistent this season and one of the reasons is that they in mid re-build on defense, a shadow of what used to be renowned as a fearsome unit. This gives Baltimore, who are under-rated offensively, a change to win this

The Ravens can be backed +1 point at 10/11 Ladbrokes

San Diego Chargers at Miami Dolphins

San Diego travel to Miami after a ten day break since losing at Denver, looking to get back on track. They are one of the most rounded teams in the league with a good defense and a high powered offense led by Philip Rivers. This should be a good match up against the 4-3 Dolphins who are more competitive this season than many felt they would be. Ryan Tannehill is developing as a quarterback and the defense  is very solid

What Miami do not have though is the overall talent level of the Chargers who to my mind should not be underdogs to win they game, yet they are.

I am backing San Diego +1.5 points at 10/11 William Hill
