The halfway point in the season, and this weekend sees the second Wembley game between the Falcons and Lions. That game is amongst those fatured in Best Bets of the Week

Recommendations

Detroit Lions -3.5 10/11 William Hill at Atlanta Falcons

Cincinnati Bengals -1 10/11 William Hill versus Baltimore Ravens

Minnesota Vikings +3 10/11 Skybet at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Atlanta Falcons v Detroit Lions (London)

Note this is a 1pm kickoff local time on Sunday. The 5-2 Lions have the number 1 defense in the NFL and have continued to win games even in the absences of star receiver Calvin Johnson who may return this week
This looks a good match up against the 2-5 Falcons for two reasons

a) the Falcons offensive Line has been decimated by injury, losing five starters including two centres in the first seven weeks of the season. The replacements face a tough task against the Lions protecting Matt Ryan and allowing him to operate effectively

b) the Falcons defense is slow and lacks talent

Detroit -3.5 points on a neutral field should be backed at 10/11 with William Hll

Cincinnati Bengals v Baltimore Ravens

This is always a tough AFC North battle. The Bengals were shut out in Indianapolis and have been badly missing receiver AJ Green who stretches the defense and opens up the gameplan. He should be back this week to face a 5-2 Ravens team that lead the division.

The match is priced as a virtual “pick-em” on the point spreads despite Cincinnati being at home where they have a strong record. This reflects relative recent form but in divisional games you can throw recent form out of the window. Compared to usual types of prices for this game (Bengals -3/-4 would be standard) Cincinnati Bengals -1 at 10/11 with William Hill is a bet

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Minnesota Vikings

No team in the NFC South has a winning record so far this season and, incredibly, the 1-5 Buccs are the only team in the division this week favourted to win. The Buccs are three point favourites at home to the Vikings. Tese are two teams in transition but i regard the Vikings as further along the path to restoring their fortunes and like them here +3 points at 10/11 with SkyBet.

I was surprised to see them +3. Their running game has been rebuilt after the loss of Adrian Peterson, rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is showing promise and the Buccs are really struggling on defense, where the players do not fit the scheme new head coach Lovie Smith is trying to implement
