The new season is taking shape and there are some surprising names amongst the teams who have begun with two losses

New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers

The Saints lost at home to Tampa Bay last weekend in one of the big shocks of an underdogs weekend in the NFL. In the game starting QB Drew Brees damaged his shoulder and is a major doubt for this game and the winless Saints now travel to the 2-0 Panthers for a tough divisional game. Brees aside, the Saints are dealing with the consequences of poor salary cap management that led to the departure of a number of players in the off-season and has left their defense, in particular, with glaring problems.

The Panthers, themselves shorn of attacking weapons through injury neverethless have QB Cam Newton to steer them through the season, a threat both passing and running the ball. With a very good defense up probably up against an inexperienced QB too, they will feel confident of winning this match and yet the game on the point spreads they are only a field goal ahead of the Saints at -3.5 with Coral (19/20).  I would expect them to cover

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets

The Eagles looked very poor in their loss at home to Dallas last weekend, unable to run the ball with a disjointed offensive line and QB Sam Bradford really struggling. The Philadelphia offense doesn’t have it any easier this week as the Jets defense looks to be up their with the best in the league on the evidence of their shackling of Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts on monday night football.

On offense the Jets have enough weapons to be at least serviceable, notably durable running back Chris Ivory and wide receiver Brandon Marshall who looks rejuvenated in his new environment but it is their defense, with a very strong defensive line and Darrelle Revis at cornerback almost impossible to throw on that will win them a lot of games this year

The Jets are only 2.5 point favourites for this game against their struggling opponent at 20/21 with BetVictor and i think they will cover.

Tampa Bay Buccanneers at Houston Texans

Houston are 0-2 and hosting what looks an eminently winnable game against the Buccs. Houston are underperforming, with a carousel and QB and minus their star running back Arian Foster.  On defense one of the leagues best players JJ Watt is routinely double-teamed and game-planned for. The Buccs at last showed some encouraging signs when winning in New Orleans last week. Far from the finished article, there are genuine hiopes that their offense with rookie QB Jameis Wnston and a number of strong receiving options will make them competitive throughout the year. Tere will be ups and downs as with all rookie QBs but the move away from the elague’s basement dwellers has begun

The Buccs are 6.5 point underdogs at Houston, and i feel it could be a closer game than that against an opponent struggling for an identity. Idoubt the Texans cover the spread, and the Buccs +6.5 at 20/21 BetVictor appeals
