Indianapolis Colts at Dallas Cowboys

Whilst the Colts secured the AFC South title last week the Cowboys took a big step towards the play-offs beating the Eagles in Philadelphia. This gave the Cowboys a 7-0 record away from home this season while their home record is 3-4. Why would this be? Well in large part it is a coincidence, due to the quality of opponent they have faced at home this season.

This weekend the trend continues as the Colts are an opponent with whom the Cowboys defense does not match up well, with Andrew Luck and a wealth of receiving options facing a Cowboys secondary that is vulnerable. In what should be a high scoring match the Cowboys will have to keep up with the Colts and run the ball to keep them off the field. Their prospects of doing that took a blow with the broken hand suffered by the NFL’s leading rusher DeMarco Murray in Philadelphia

With the match up favouring the Colts, who themselves are pushing for the highest play-off seeding possible, the 11/12 with 888Sport Colts +3 is worth backing

Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans

The Ravens are in a huge battle to make the play-offs in one of the NFL’s most competitive divisions, the NFC North and they travel to Houston this weekend. Nothing less than a win will do. These are two teams with their main strength on defense but the Texans are now down to their 4th and 5th choice quarterbacks on the other side of the ball with Ryan Fitzpatrick breaking his leg and Tom Savage also injured last weeekend.

This is not a good recipe to play the Ravens, and the Ravens should out-score Houston with quarterback Joe Flacco in great form over the last month. Baltimore Ravens -5 at 10/11 William Hill

San Diego Chargers at San Francisco 49ers

Both teams lost last weekend, San Diego to Denver and the 49ers in Seattle. the 49ers are out of the paly-offs and San Diego are now battling for a wild-card behind division winners Denver.

The main issue the 49ers have is on offense, where it has not clicked for many weeks. Even though Seattle are one of the best defenses in the league, to only score 7 points last weekend was very disappointing especially as the dfefense will keep them in most games. The Chargers aren’t as strong in the defensive secondary as Seattle, but the onus is on the 49ers to click and that doesn’t look too likely at this stage of the season

San Diego, and Phillip Rvers especially, need this game and as 2.5 point underdogs (10/11 William Hill) are a good bet to take their play-off hopes down to the final weekend of the season
