The start of the new season on Tursday night with the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots
The aim of this column over the regular and post-season will be to give the best three weekly opportunities on the point spread or other markets,in any given week usually posted by midweek to take advantage of any lines that are out of shape before the big players move in.
For week 1:
New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys
A big NFC East divisional rivalry to start the Sunday night football slate of games. There are a couple of line up uncertainties here surrounding key players.Odell Beckham is touch and go after a pre-season injury and last year’s NFL rushing champion Zeke Elliott is fighting a suspension that may be on hold before the game.
The Giants are 3.5 point underdogs here at 10/11 yet they match up very well with the Cowboys, with a strong rushing defense and good passing attack. The Cowboys, as a high profile popular team also tend to be overbet particularly for prime timematch ups such as this. Ilike the iants as underdogs here
Seattle Seahawks @ Green Bay Packers
Two NFC powerhouses meet in week 1. The Seahawks are right in the window to have another run at the superbowl and have one of the best defenses in the elague plus quarterback Russell Wilson at his peak. The Packers meanwhile with Aaron Rodgers at home are a formidable proposition. For the Seahawks,at least this game is early season before late season weather plays its traditional part on the far north.
The Seahawks are 3 point underdogs here in what should be a very tight one score game. Seahawks +3 at 10/11 for me.
Indianapolis Colts at Los Angeles Rams
The LA Rams enter the season with a new coaching staff and with quarterback Jared Goff showing more promise after a tough rookie season, where he will now be asked to be a game manager. Whilst the Rams probably won’t be a play off team they should be improved on last season
Te Colts enter this game without quarterback Andrew Luck,Scott Tolzein his replacement. With injuries across the offensive line it could be a long afternoon for the Colts offense against a strong Rams defensive unit. The Colts stilllook to be below league average on defense too
All thi is set up for a home win and the Rams -3.5 at 10/11 should be supported.
