It’s been a perfect Christmas period for Liverpool with both Manchester City and Tottenham dropping points and they go into the first game of 2019 as 8/15 favourites to win their first Premier League title

Manchester City v Liverpool (Thursday 3rd)

Manchester City are on a run of three defeats in four writing ahead of their game at Southampton on Sunday, with problems replacing the injured Fernandinho in midifield at Mendy at left back. Repeating last year’s feat was always going to be difficult and they are currently 11 points behind their pace of last season. This might not matter in some seasons but Liverpool have won seventeen out of 20 games and conceded only 8 goals to set a blistering pace.

Earlier this season Guardiola was happy to set up for a point at Anfield and I suspect the value here is that both sides will set up not to lose. Manchester City can’t afford to do so and Liverpool with Van Dijk are difficult to break down. The draw at 14/5 with BetVictor appeals

Wolves v Crystal Palace (Wednesday 2nd)

Wolves excellent 3-1 victory at Tottenham pushed them up to seventh in the table. Extremely well organised they are a tough team to play and beat. They are 21/20 to beat Palace who couldn’t follow up their great victory last weekend at the Etihad but offer plenty of threat on the counter attack away from home. NeverthelessI expect a norrow home win

Huddersfield v Burnley (Wednesday 2nd)

A real relegation six pointer. Huddersfield lost all seven games in December to fall to the bottom of the table and have scored 12 goals all season. Burnley have three wins all season conceding a whopping 41 goals, a huge setback for last season’s very tight defence

I like a low scoring match, and the Draw at 23/10 with BetVictor appeals
