New “Poker Pros Network” Launches

The “Poker Pros Network” has launched on the Cake Poker network, allowing the public to play against professional poker players 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Unlike many other poker networks that claim to allow members of the public to play against poker professionals, the Poker Pros Network allows players to choose one of 35 different poker pros to affiliate with. Once this player is selected, invites to private poker games and special events will be forthcoming, so players don’t have to simply wait around, hoping to stumble across an elusive pro.

As an alternative, players can simply sign up to the main Poker Pros Network site, but this too promises full time access to professional poker players.

The professionals chosen to front the Poker Pros Network, or PPN, are a mix of big name players and poker authors from the world of online poker, as well as the regular bricks and mortar game. The highest profile of these is six times World Series of Poker bracelet winner and Poker Hall Of Fame entrant TJ Cloutier, who fronts the new poker site alongside Women In Poker Hall of Fame members Barbara Enright and Marsha Waggoner.

Other pros at the PPN include Jennifer “Jennicide” Leigh, Josh Brikis, David Levi and Chris Reslock. The PPN website will also offer sports betting and casino games.

The CEO of the Poker Pros Network, Chuck Kidd, said: “We are proud to team with Cake Poker Network, a proven world class organization, to bring this unique PPN experience to the poker world. We have currently signed top online pro players, as well as brick-and-mortar pros, to play at the PPN. The allure of playing against the world’s best online poker players has already been proven. At PPN, we make it easy to interact with the PPN pro players of your choice on your schedule and within your budget.”

The PPN is offering a deposit bonus of $500 to all new poker players, as well as scheduled monthly tournaments involving bounties for busting the PPN professional players.

Fixed Limit Texas Hold'em Strategy
Fixed Limit Hold’em is far less popular than it used to be, thanks to the boom in the popularity of the No Limit form of the game, but it is still an excellent poker game in its own right. Additionally, novice Hold’em players can use Fixed Limit to learn some basic skills, before progressing to big bet Hold’em games.

Online Poker Tells
A “tell” is a sign that gives away a players’ hand or strategy. It may indicate that a poker player holds a good hand, a poor hand or he is bluffing, and in live play can be determined by finger tapping or shuffling in the seat, or by some distinguishable action that attracts your attention. When playing poker online, physical actions are not discernable, so it is important to identify when a player is telling you something that you need to take notice of.

Double Hold'em - Basic Strategy Part 2
Following on from the first part of our beginner’s guide to “Double Hold’em“, PartyPoker’s latest creation, let us now have a look at some other important concepts.

Double Hold'em - Beginner Mistakes
Reaction to the launch of PartyPoker’s innovative new game “Double Hold’em” has been mixed, with many people feeling that this exciting new variation of Texas Hold’em has potential, while many others feel that “Double Hold’em” is merely a gimmick and that PartyPoker should spend more time improving their software for the more regular poker variants.

Big Stack Strategy
Playing the big stack in a poker tournament can be great fun, but it is important not to get carried away and to avoid the common pitfalls associated with a chip lead.

Moving from Hold'em to Omaha
If you’re bored of playing Texas Hold’em poker and are looking to try learning a different form of the game, Omaha might be an interesting place to start. Many players that are looking to broaden their poker horizons start out with Omaha as their first alternative to Hold’em, due to the similarity in structure, but don’t be fooled into thinking that the game requires similar tactics.

Chips Stacks in Tournaments
When playing in a No Limit Hold’em poker tournament, it is important to keep an eye on your fellow players in order to absorb as much information as possible, which will help make your decisions easier. Paying attention to your rivals, the cards they play and their betting patterns is not the only useful source of information though.
