Janko Tipsarevic, the world’s number twelve, surprised plenty of experts by beating Fernando Verdasco on Friday, but it is nevertheless hard to see him progressing to the later rounds, with Mikhail Youzhny looking set to beat him today.

The Russian has not done much in recent weeks and one could obviously argue that his meltdown against Gilles Simon was down to him being in a really bad place right now, but his performances in the French Open have been surprisingly consistent so far. Yes, he has dropped a set in both rounds, but he has also fought back valiantly whenever he was down and that should do him a world of good today. And, to make things even better, his matches did not take a lot of time.

On the other hand, Janko Tipsarevic had to play a very tiring match against Fernando Verdasco yesterday and, by all accounts, his performance was far from what he is capable of when on fire. His recent results have been awful as well, so it is hard to think that he has already found any sort of from. He might have, of course, but this is going to be a testing match nonetheless and he fully deserves to be the underdog, even though he is the better player of the two overall.

There are plenty of possibilities here in terms of betting, but backing Mikhail Youzhny outright seems to be the best of them, especially since Janko Tipsarevic might be quite tired later on, making the retirement option a distant possibility as well. Therefore, our recommendation here is quite simple and straightforward, although the overs look quite tempting at first glance as well.
