With the first round done and dusted, it is time for us to look at one of the matches from the second round. Namely, the match that will feature two Russians, Mikhail Youzhny and Evgeny Donskoy.

Selection: Mikhail Youzhny (-5.5 games)

Best Odds: 2.01 @ Pinnacle

Mikhail Youzhny struggled to get his campaign off to a good start in the first round and even had to save a match point against one of the locals, Matthew Ebden. However, he eventually got the job done and will now be looking to build on that victory in his today’s match against one of his compatriots, Evgeny Donskoy.

Evgeny Donskoy might be a bit of an unknown for those that do not follow tennis that regularly, but that does not mean that he would be a bad player. Last year, he won plenty of points on the challenger level and it seems that he will now be trying to make his breakthrough on the main tour as well.

However, it will be incredibly hard from him to take more than one set off Youzhny. The world’s number twenty-five will be a much tougher nut to crack than Adrian Ungur was in the first round and Donskoy’s serve will undoubtedly come under close scrutiny today, as he will be forced to cope with a very experienced opponent that will know what to do in every single situation. The slower surface is also going to be on Youzhny’s side, as he should be the one winning most of the rallies, while Donskoy will be mainly hoping to hold his serve without many difficulties. That is going to be an uphill task, however, and I expect Youzhny to cover the handicap line in the end.
