Brentford, lower league football accumulator bet, Saturday 8th December 2012Christmas is coming and there are gifts to be purchased, so we could all use a few extra quid in our back pockets. So for this weekend’s lower league football accumulator bet, we’ve come up with a ‘Festive Fourfold’ that returns a juicy £335.80 for a £20 stake (Pinnacle) – that’s odds of 16.79 (15.79/1)! This one is not to be missed…

1 – Crystal Palace vs Blackpool
Palace have been terrific so far this Championship season; only Cardiff are above them in the league (just one point in it) and no side has scored more goals. With just one defeat in their last seventeen matches and 13 goals in their last four home matches, they are a tough prospect for any team.

Blackpool have struggled since Holloway jumped ship and although they are unbeaten in six, they aren’t really winning games. The only sides they have beaten in that time are bottom three teams and they have drawn an incredible six of their last nine matches. Palace will be a much tougher test and a current best price of 2.21 (Pinnacle), I think Palace look like a sound addition to our weekend football accumulators.

2 – Leicester vs Barnsley
The foxes are an absolute home banker this weekend and you’d be mad not to include them in any accumulator bets. Yes they are only a best price of 1.44 with (Ladbrokes) but that is still value in my eyes and I just can’t see them failing to beat a dreadful Barnsley side. Scoring goals for fun, Leicester are handy enough at the back on their own patch too, having conceded just seven goals in their ten home games in the Championship.

Keith Hill’s Barnsley are just so poor at the minute. The fans aren’t happy and it’s easy to see why – just one win in their last 13 Championship matches has seen them tumble to 21st place and just two points clear of the bottom three. Only Sheffield Wednesday have a worse record away from home and there’s absolutely nothing to suggest that this weekend will change anything. Nailed on home banker, get them in your coupon.

3 – Coventry vs Walsall
There was a time not so long ago that I seemed to be including Walsall in this column every week, but this time they’re in for all the wrong reasons. A run of 11 games without a victory has seen them plummet to just 19th in the League One table and they just look devoid of confidence. They have recently conceded four goals to Scunthorpe, who I think are one of the worst sides in the league, as well as failing to beat lowly Hartlepool at home.

Coventry by contrast have found a bit of form since Mark Robins took charge, having won four of their last six (losing just one game in that period) and scoring plenty of goals into the bargain. That run has seen them climb to 15th and they’ve rediscovered their confidence. With home advantage against a side with form as bad as Walsall’s, they look a great bet at a best price of 1.93 (BetVictor), so into our weekend accumulator bet they must go.

4 – Brentford vs MK Dons
Brentford are in terrific form at present, having won five of their last seven matches, including wins against promotion hunting sides like Sheffield United and Swindon Town. At home, they are especially tough to beat; in fact, the only side with a better record on their own patch in League One this season is this weekend’s opponents Milton Keynes (both sides have collected 23 from a possible 30 points, MK Dons shade it on goal difference).

Milton Keynes are in great form themselves and have been pinching a lot of 1-0 wins, but I really like Brentford and I feel that their home record gives them a big edge. MK Dons have only won away from home three times this season and three of their four league defeats this term came on the road. I can see Uwe Rosler’s men bringing them back to Earth with a bump this weekend and at a best price of 2.89 (Pinnacle), the Bees look like tremendous value.

Pinnacle are by far the best choice of bookmaker for this weekend’s lower league football accumulator bet, offering a healthy 16.79 (15.79/1) about our tips in a fourfold. The nearest rivals are BetVictor, who weigh in with just 14.98 (15.98/1).
