We fancy Championship side Blackpool, as well as a couple of League Two outfits for this weekend’s lower league football accumulator bet, the odds of which currently stand at 12.69 (11.69/1) with online bookmaker BetVictor. In other words, stick £20 on our recommended treble right now and you could bag yourself a cool £253.80 at five o’clock on Saturday. Judging by the look on Barry Ferguson’s face, even he can’t believe what great value that is!
Football Accumulator Betting Tips
1 – Blackpool vs Barnsley
I can’t say that I rate Barnsley’s chances of Championship survival too highly this season. They still haven’t replaced the goals of Craig Davies who left at Christmas and I’ll be amazed if John Cofie, brought in on a free from Manchester United after a dismal loan spell at local rivals Sheffield United, is the man to do that. In fact, the only summer signing that David Flitcroft – who fans are already grumbling about after a poor performance and a 4-0 reverse last weekend – has made that has impressed me, is Jean-Yves Mvoto. The big centre half is in for a tough time on Saturday, however.
But the main reason Blackpool are absolute bankers this weekend is not so much about how poor Barnsley are, but how good Blackpool are. Off to the perfect start this Championship campaign when beating Doncaster 3-1 away from home last week, the Seasiders have a nice blend of experience and youth, as well as having goals all over the pitch. I will be surprised if they’re not in and around the Play-Offs come April and I just can’t believe that they are even close to even money this Saturday against a side as poor as Barnsley. It would be rude not to take up BetVictor‘s best price of 1.95 for your weekend football accumulator bets.
2 – Hartlepool vs Southend
For our second lower league football accumulator bet selection, we drop into League Two, where Hartlepool play host to Southend. The home side were only spared last place in League One by Portsmouth’s points deduction and their home form was the worst in the league, with just five wins at Victoria Park. The relegated side look set for another long season after Rochdale slotted three past them on the opening day of the season and I think that Southend could be overpriced to collect all three points in this game.
The Shrimpers were in good form away from home last season, with ten wins on the road and only four sides collecting more points on their travels. A run of just one win in their final ten games cost them a chance at promotion via the Play-Offs but I see no reason why they shouldn’t regroup and have a run at the Play-Offs this time around. The current best odds of 3.20 (SportingBet) to win on Saturday seem generous and I think that they are a good value addition to our lower league accumulator bet.
3 – Chesterfield vs Cheltenham
Cheltenham finished amongst the Play-Off places last season but they struggled on the road, collecting just six victories from their 23 attempts in the league. No better example of this was when they visited Chesterfield and were soundly thrashed 4-1; in fact, they have never won in six visits to the Derbyshire town, picking up just a solitary point.
The Spireites are understandably amongst the favourites for promotion from League Two this time around, and although they didn’t play to their absolute best last week when beating Bury, it was a steely performance away from home to bring back three points. In front of their home fans for the first time in the league, they will surely improve and I can’t see them being troubled too much by the Robins. At a current best price of 2.10 with BetVictor, I think Chesterfield look like a good value addition to Saturday’s football accumulator bet.
Where To Place Your Accumulator
As is so often the case when it comes to football betting, BetVictor are top price about two of our selections and are close to the best price about our third, making them the best online bookmaker (at the time of writing) with which to place our lower league football accumulator bet. Twenty quid on our acca with the gentleman bookmaker right now would return an impressive £253.80!
Don’t forget that if you register a new account through our site, you’ll be rewarded with a free £25 bet – why not throw that on our football accumulator bet too?
