Many have already tried to write Lleyton Hewitt off when it comes to top-level tennis, but he has managed to strike back this week by beating some very tough opponents in London and it therefore wouldn’t be surprising to see him beat Marin Cilic on Saturday.

The Croat has surprised everyone by beating Tomas Berdych on Friday, but one shouldn’t overestimate that result by any means. The result was good, of course, especially since the Croat produced some very suspicious performances in his previous matches, but it is hard to believe that he is back to his very best just because he’s managed to beat the Czech number one.

Lleyton Hewitt will bring his experience to the table and that is something that Cilic will struggle to deal with, as he is sometimes all about raw power. That might work against guys like Berdych, but the Australian will be able to absorb all those big shots and hit back with some counter-punches on his own. The H2H record contains only one match, but the fact that it took place on a grass court – and just a year ago – makes it quite relevant, so it is certainly nice to see that Hewitt has managed to beat Cilic in the only previous meeting between the two.

Therefore, shrewd bettors should certainly consider backing the Australian veteran to confirm his return to form today. The price is quite good as well, which adds the final ingredient to this selection, making it a fairly good one in our point of view. If nothing else, backing Cilic at such a price would look quite suspect given his form in recent weeks and months.
